It’s always fun to have food that ‘matches’ an activity that you’re having.
A red, white, and blue treat is wonderful to serve on the 4th of July — or any other patriotic holiday for that matter.
These red, white, and blue patriotic pops fit that bill. Aren’t they cuties? I think so.
And are so easy to make that a grandchild of any age could help make them. This would be a great activity to do with your grandkids on the Fourth.
Here’s what you need:
red Jell-O
blue Jell-O (I used Berry Blue)
large marshmallows
sucker sticks
Put some water in a small bowl. I used our cereal bowls.
Empty one package of Jell-O in another small bowl. Dip a marshmallow in the water.
Gently shake the marshmallow to remove any excess water. (You don’t want lots of water getting into your bowl of the Jell-O powder.)
Roll the marshmallow in the Jell-O powder. Make sure the marshmallow is all covered. (Warning! Your grandchildren will end up with purple fingers by the time they are all through!)
Set your marshmallows aside on a plate. (I would have used waxed paper but I didn’t have any at the time.)
Let them ‘dry’ for a while.
How long? you ask.
I dunno. We ate a light supper and then I finished making the pops. They dried about half-an-hour.
Put a red-covered marshmallow, then a plain white marshmallow, and then a blue-covered marshmallow on a sucker stick.
Wouldn’t these look great on your picnic table on the 4th? Wouldn’t your grandchildren be excited to eat them? I think so.
