Summer time. Temperatures are soaring.
One way to cool off is to have a scoop or two (or 10!) of ice cream in a cone.
But, those ice cream cones that you buy in the store are so blah in color. Boring. Lacking in visual appeal.
They are so drab that you’re doing them a favor to call them plain Jane.
Why not do something to jazz them up? Make them colorful. Give them personality. Make them enticing.
You can make colorful cones in mere minutes. They are super easy to make and your grandkids will clamor for more!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Candy melts
Sprinkles
Ice cream cones
You can use whatever color of candy melts that you want. I Just happened to have some yellow ones on hand because I had some left over from when I made an Easter popcorn treat.
First, pour some sprinkles in a small bowl.
Then, put a few candies in another small bowl. Melt them in the microwave oven for 30 seconds on 50 percent power. Repeat. Stir to make a smooth, creamy mixture.
Now comes the fun part. Simply dip the top of the cone in the melted chocolate.
Next, dip it in the sprinkles.
Then, fill them with ice cream.
This is where I should insert a picture of the cone filled to overflowing with ice cream. But, my grandkids were so excited to eat them, that I totally spaced out taking a picture of a filled cone.
It’s also at this point that I should insert a picture of the kids beginning to eat their ice cream cone. But alas, we were sitting on a swing on the patio, and it was such a nice evening, and a nice temperature, and we were enjoying the ice cream cones so much that I almost forgot to take pictures.
I did remember to snap some but the cones were almost all gone!
Your grandkids will think you are an extra special grandma when you make these colorful cones for them. Their parents will enjoy eating the cones, too — and so will grandpa.
